re/touch
"re/touch" was a three-day performance of Bruce Nauman's "Body Pressure" (1974) on a bus stop wall in New York City for the Art in Odd Places BODY public art festival in 2018. Responding to the isolating impacts of capitalism, "re/touch" prompted fresh connections to the city's body, including its public. For the related exhibition at Westbeth Gallery, I reassembled Nauman's instructions into a poem exploring how touch can undo a regulating image. The poem accompanied small, documentary photographs of the performance, legible when standing close to the gallery wall.
